Sie war Begegnung, Wagnis, Bewegung und oft ein Augenblick, in dem zwischen Bühne und Publikum jede Distanz verschwand. Er konnte vor Tausenden Menschen stehen und dennoch den Eindruck erwecken, als singe er nur für die wenigen, die gerade wirklich zuhörten. Vielleicht lag das daran, dass seine Kunst dort begonnen hatte, wo niemand verpflichtet ist, stehen zu bleiben: auf den Straßen von Dublin.

In 2016, I went to a concert of Glen Hansard performing at the <Kulturzelt Kassel> (DE) and was impressed by bis voice, his lyrics and his warm and friendly nature.
When I now heart about his sudden death, I was shocked.
Watching the celebration for him via livestream, I was deeply touched by the ceremony in its simplicity and trueness and by all the heartfelt words of love and appreciation found for him by his family and friends and the music they performed in memory of him. The celebration illustrated like no other what a special person he was.
As such, he will continue to live on in the memories of his family, his friends and all the people loving and never forgetting him.
All my sympathy goes out to his family, especially his wife and his little son
